Notebook Policy:
All scientists will be required to keep an organized notebook for science class. Notebooks are a valuable tool for studying, reviewing, and completing homework. (Additionally, much of what you learn in middle school is reviewed in high school, so you can save it for then to ace your high school courses!)
Notebooks should be broken into the following sections, in this order:
· Class Grade Sheet (front pocket)
· Warm-Up Sheets (newest should appear closest to the front)
· Notes
· Class Assignments/ Worksheets
· Homework
· Tests/Quizzes
· Quiz Grade Sheet (back pocket)
Notebooks will be collected several times during each quarter for an organizational check. Notebook grades will be part of your grade every quarter.
Homework Policy:
Homework will be given on a consistent basis during the school year (3-5 times per week). It is the students’ responsibility to complete all homework and ask for help outside of class if there is confusion on an assignment. Homework is important because it reinforces skills taught in class.
Homework should be kept in the homework section of your notebook and be recorded in your Student Planner on a daily basis.
GRADING SYSTEM

80%- 89% - B
70%- 79% - C

Extra credit will be made available at times during each quarter. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the extra credit assignments at that time. Extra credit will not be given at the end of the quarter to raise a students’ grade. Keep track of your grades and choose to do the extra credit in advance, not when it is too late!
